The Native Fuchsia Dreaming is a love story between two people who could not marry under traditional Warlpiri Law. The man and woman broke traditional Warlpiri Law and married, which turned the two forbidden lovers into stone. The two stones can still be seen today as large rocks at Ngarlu (Yuendumu region).
During the course of this event, the women who gossiped about the forbidden love turned into 'Miinypa', which is the traditional Warlpiri name for the Native Fuchsia plant. This plant has small red flowers with honey inside, which tastes similar to ice cream. This plant still grows in abundance at Ngarlu today.
