Maureen’s works usually depict the various and essential bush foods from her area. Each piece represents the importance of the Aboriginal women’s role in collecting, carrying and preparing these bush foods.

Maureen’s paintings are designed to provide information to the younger members of her community, including her family, as to how and where to collect these bush foods, and which ones are useful for medicinal or other purposes. This is part of the women’s responsibility to pass on tradition and knowledge from one generation to the next.
