Mitjili is custodian of the Spear Dreaming (Kulata Tjurrkupa) and paints elements of her family’s Dreaming only women are allowed to depict. She paints the root system, landscape and location of the plant (Watiya Tjuta) that are used to make spears and other wooden objects, by the male members of her family. It is very important that elements of the Tjukurrpa (Dreaming) are kept separate for men and women as their “Men’s & Women’s Business” is a sacred tradition.
