The Desert Oak Tree is commonly found in many parts of the central desert of Australia. The Desert Oak Tree is a 'shade' tree where the women in this painting sit down to rest at an area called Mina Mina, which is an important ceremonial place.

Mina Mina and the associated land are to the west of Yuendumu in the Sandhill Country. The women shown in this painting are collecting an edible fungus.

There are a number of water soakage sites and clay pans at Mina Mina and it is here that the women danced and performed various ceremonies.
